Stop Motion Project
So for this stop motion in which I call “My kind of Morning” I showed what a typical summer morning might be like for me personally. I wanted it to have a common start and end while showing what I actually see. So the first shot of the sky is from my perspective when I wake up. I try to look at the clouds, it has been very calming to me to see that when I wake up. The main character is myself from my lens or from my view of my small world in my apartment, and I am trying to show the ebb and flow of a morning in my life. I wanted to almost kind of be like a personal vlog but stop motion. It was intentional to first show the calm sky and then move quickly (making the bed) to show energy and emotion. I personally try to be energetic when I wake up and make your bed sets the mood for your day. I am a clean freak so I enjoy having a cleaned up room. The music is intentional as it is very symbolic (starts slower, gets interesting when making the bed, ends with the word sky, is about summer). I also wanted to show movement in many ways so it's not crystal clear as I am making the bed but the images get clearer and more calm as I cook. I wanted to also have a bit of fun so I showed myself taking out my retainer. I thought that would lighten the mood and make people smile, and I am also a pretty fun loving person so I wanted to have fun with this! I also tried to be funny with my basil plant by showing me patting it on the back after I watered it. I made sure to take this in the morning with the correct lighting. After seeing how Muybridge would use himself in his own work, I felt it was okay to rather than have a subject, make myself the subject. I tried to use different kinds of angles than normal to show a unique framing. Overall, I had fun making this. It made me laugh and was nice to edit and create what I wanted to be shown.
