Nick Cave and Yayoi Kusama have somewhat similar installation in the sense of repeating patterns, bright and cheery colors, and loud immersiveness that brings the viewer in. However, they both clearly have different agendas and reasoning for their art creations. I know that Yayoi is famous for her beautiful dots that varies in size and shape and covers surfaces that allow them to accentuate the object/surface. Whereas Cave is known for his SoundSuits that immerse people and become an exhibit in their own right. Both artist step outside of the constraints of a paint on canvas and allow viewers to touch their art- which I believe is key to their conception. Much like Rist, it is important to transform, to make a new reality for others to step inside of. Both artists are sure to make political points with their art, as Kusama leans towards understanding mental disorders, spreading love and acceptance to the world. Cave does the same, in shedding light on the massive gun violence happening in Chicago. The thought that Cave is showing viewers beauty, that is nothing like beauty, in order to incite change.
