History of Computing
I know that Ada Lovelace was not in the 1970's but I think she is prime example of men stealing women's achievements, and not allowing them to bask in their own creation, as this is a common theme throughout HERstoy. It is women like Ada whom paved the way for so many more!
As far as developments that came in the 70's up until the present, I think the creation of Amiga (as well as other computing devices like it) is astounding and what truly cultivated an entire new sound and way we produce music. The introduction of computer-based sound allowed a overthrow of past norms that music centered around. Thinking now how you can access any song you want on your phone, how you can record and make a song on your phone, is an astounding advancement we have made in music production.
Another development that lead to more an even more streamlined way we communicate and create is the invention- or more so optimization of the personal computer or laptop. I personally remember my mom having an early laptop and my sister and I thought it was such an amazing invention. We would play on it for hours, not even doing anything special, just admiring the technology. This tech changed entirely our discourse. Thinking the huge bulky old computer we used to have compared to the thin and sleek, fast processing computer we have now is crazy kind of development!
